Magical Languages

Magical languages can be learned and integrated with most natural languages, and they can be spoken as long as Prima Aether is present. Their function is more magical than grammatical, though the two may overlap in some cases.

Mer

Mer allows clear and extended communication underwater, and non-aquatic species can learn it. It is the universally adopted language of aquatic beings.

Draconic

Draconic augments language to enable communication through the elemental Aethers. It is the language of Dragons and is still spoken by the Dragon Gods alongside their other languages.

Those who understand Draconic can hear it from several kilometers away, though the distance over which a speaker can communicate depends on their talent for elemental sorcery. Even those who cannot understand it may feel the resonance of the language passing. The Dragon Gods use Draconic to speak to their disciples across great distances.

Druidic

Druidic enables communication through the earth by physical contact, as well as communication with Fey and plant life. It is essential for cultivating magical gardens and performing intricate alchemical botany processes. Learning and using Druidic requires genuine affection for and affinity with nature.

Elven colonies developed Druidic with the help of Sylvara, Dragon Goddess of Nature. It is considered a branch of Draconic specifically designed to harmonize with Vitae, or Nature Aether.

Incantus

Incantus is a psychic language that communicates meaning even when listeners do not understand its words. It was created by the Astralei and requires significant magical aptitude or innate psychic talent.

Institutions such as Arcan Academy teach Incantus, though it is rarely studied because Endros has a common tongue.

Idyllic

Idyllic enhances emotional resonance and expressive power, amplifying beauty, artistic impact, and depth. A speaker's voice sounds beautiful and articulate, resonating smoothly with their aura.

It is the preferred language of Maidens, Maestros, and Endros's most talented bards and performers.

Feytongue

Feytongue is designed for easy communication with Fey, who find it simple to learn and understand. Fey are not born with knowledge of Feytongue, but it has become common enough that many wild Fey speak it.

Feytongue is categorized as magical only because of its association with Fey.

Infernal

Infernal is a language whose meaning is carried most clearly through corruption, vice, and spiritual defilement. Intelligent Demons, especially the Nyzari, use it to dominate their subordinates. It resonates with and is easily understood by dark-aligned listeners and those with compromised wills.

To the uncorrupted, Infernal often sounds fragmented or obscured, with only its emotional weight coming through clearly. Its dark, predatory intent weakens a listener's will and increases the chance of submission.
