Magitech (Chi)
Includes wands, personal gear, mobility devices, suppression tools, and other Chi-related Aethertech.
Wand
Wands are used by Wizards to cast magic by converting their Chi into direct Aetheric effects. Each Wand is associated with an elemental Aether: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Nature, or Prana. Its effects are crude for users who possess no magic in the sphere, but can enhance the precision or effectiveness for users who do.
Wands are an effective way to grant magic to those wealthy enough to afford it, but hard training is still needed to harness its power. Rank I can take a typical user several months, and Rank II can take upwards of two or three years. Wands are currently not powerful enough to exceed Rank II.
Fertility Band
These metallic bands are worn by women to significantly enhance fertility and expand the population. If worn before pregnancy, it drastically raises the likelihood of having children, especially girls; over 98% of children born with these bands are female. If worn during pregnancy, it drastically improves the child's nutrition, health, and speed of development, allowing births to occur in as little as four months. These bands were created in bulk for over two centuries in response to a severe population crisis. The children birthed with these bands are also much more likely to birth girls, which has resulted in a female population that nearly doubles that of males. These bands are still very popular today and can be leased from the House of Maidens or the Adventurer's Guild at little cost.
Hairpins
This hairpin will automatically groom, wash, cut, braid, unbraid, color and recolor, hold, and otherwise style one's hair to the desired type. It can keep track of several hairstyles, but each hairstyle tracked must first be produced naturally and saved while the hairpin is attuned.
Handling Glove
Handling gloves evenly distribute the forces exerted on a held item, making certain items much easier to carry or wield.
Lizard Glove
Lizard gloves allow a lizard-like ability to firmly grip and release from surfaces, allowing significantly easier climbing and vertical movement.
Chi Boot
Chi boots magically adjust friction and footing to accommodate the user's current needs. This provides a number of benefits in different scenarios: dampens sounds to make movement silent, reduces force of impact to make normal tracking nearly impossible, keeps you aligned when falling, provides shock-absorption to reduce fall damage, roots the user in place to resist knockback effects, allows rapid sliding down slopes, protects the user against caltrops, etc. The user can also ignore movement complications from ice, mud, sand, loose gravel, moderate slopes, and similar surfaces.
Hoverskate
Hoverskates provide levitation, propulsion, and maneuvering in exchange for a perpetual expenditure of Chi, limiting its use to powerful Adventurers. Users can comfortably maintain a 50cm levitation for long distances, or up to 2-3 meter levitation for short distances or quick bursts. They repel against sturdy walls and other surfaces with similar force to solid ground. Experienced athletes can rapidly switch between levitation and grounded maneuvers, allowing for impressive acrobatic maneuvers.
Hoverskates add propulsive force that reach speeds up to 60 kilometers per hour; roughly double a typical sprinting speed. They also have the benefit of being silent, avoiding footprints or tracks, overcoming complications with terrain, and helping to stabilize the user's balance.
Raiment
Raiments are majestic outfits tailored to a specific individual, and bound to their Chi. They do not offer the level of power that Regalia does, but are self-cleaning, and are created with Merwear fabrics to remain dry. Like Regalia, they have a self-repairing mechanism, though it is much slower and less efficient. These outfits tend to keep one's temperature regulated well enough to handle most environments.
Insulator
Insulators are bracelets that suppress or neutralize electrical currents, rendering the wearer immune to the damage and debilitating effects of electricity.
Life Weave
Life weaves are bracelets that accelerate the body's natural healing processes, mending a minor amount of wounds over the course of a day.
Scent Veil
Scent veils are bracelets that suppress and subtly alter the wearer's scent, making them effectively impossible to track by smell.
Darkvision Glasses
These face-forming wide lens glasses provide the user with the ability to see in low-light environments.
Kinwhistle
Multiple users can attune to the whistle. When the whistle is blown, only attuned users can hear it.
Tetherstone
Once attuned to a Tetherstone, the user can sense its direction and distance at all times, up to a distance of around ten kilometers. Warding magic can suppress or entirely negate this effect, and may even de-attune the connected user prematurely. The Tetherstone can support multiple attunements, but the distance it can be detected by each attuned user is proportionally reduced.
Inhibitor
Inhibitors actively contest targeted energies within the body, weakening the user in that area. These are particularly helpful for training, challenging the user when using certain abilities. Inhibitors come in a variety of types, including: Anima Inhibitors, Sorcery Inhibitors, Strength Inhibitors, Stamina Inhibitors, and Mental Inhibitors.
Slave Collar
Slave Collars are metal collars that are integrated with a Mindshard. They are used on slaves to identify them and their owners, to provide constant monitoring of their activities, and to ensure a certain degree of compliance with pain if necessary. The collar is usually fitted with Luminite to cause a light glow when the Sprites have a message for the slave owner.
Slave Collars are crafted with reinforced metal, and in some cases with Skysteel, making them extremely difficult to remove without permission from the Mindshard. It may inflict significant pain if attempted, and any attempts would be reported to the slave owner. It is now forbidden to create Slave Collars that kill, but there are older killing models that are still in circulation.
Chi Blade
Chi Blades are silver-lit blades with an extreme degree of piercing ability similar to Solblades, and are capable of deflecting fired Sorcery attacks. Their attunement cost is high, limiting their use to powerful Chi users. Chi Blades are very difficult to handle due to the high intensity training needed to react quickly enough to be useful, and only a handful of true masters can use their deflective capabilities offensively.
Sports Bands
Players equip Sports Bands for major sporting events, especially broadcasted events. Sports Bands perform many functions to assist in officiating and supporting the match, including projecting team and status auras, detecting and revealing violations, recording movements and match data, and other operations. Advanced versions may be equipped with Mindscape recordings, making it useful for broadcasts and reviews.
Enforcer Manacles
Enforcer Manacles are reserved for special class enforcers of the Adventurer's Guild. They only obey the owner and up to a few dozen allies the owner can designate. Attunement grants awareness of its direction, distance, and condition within a few hundred meters. They are specifically designed to be extremely fast and effortless to snap on and off, making it viable in combat.
While worn, Enforcer Manacles inhibit Chi and Sorcery abilities, reducing their influence to roughly half their normal effect. They are nearly unbreakable manacles and possess magical tampering resistance. Most Mindshapers would be unable to break the security on them.
