Transportation Infrastructure
Travel
- Inner-city carriage services are widely available.
- Long-distance carriage services are available, though often require protective escorts.
- Many travelers join protected caravans as a means of safe travel.
- The Onyx Magtrain system connects several major settlements through a blazing-fast travel system.
- Magtrains offer rapid transit beneath most major settlements in their Underward.
- Ships are regularly available for citizens who want to travel between major ports.
- Most merchants will offer passage in exchange for proper fare.
- Submarines are available to some travelers, though getting access may be difficult or expensive.
- Airships are occasionally available to VIPs, high-ranking Adventurers and military, or wealthy travelers.
- Most Airships are for military use. Citizen travel is expensive.
- Sweetums, Battle Ostriches, and other Fey creatures are available as high-quality mounts.
- Hoverbikes are available in rocky areas, or in underground environments like Onyx.
- Hoverskates, though expensive, are available to wealthy Adventurers who can handle them.
- The Portal System is rare, privileged access available only to a small few.
- The House of Maidens has access to the full Portal network.
- Some Hunters, Saints, Alphas, and VIPs have access to specific Portals.
Transport
- The Courier's Guild handles parcel delivery across Endros.
- Maintains parcel contracts with many ships, merchants, and caravans.
- Has post offices and delivery routes that are regularly traveled.
Skyport
Skyports are massive towers that support Airship docking in areas of sufficient Air Aether saturation. The platform provides dedicated areas for Sky Knights and other Wingsuit users to launch and land. There is typically a dedicated Comms Tower near the top. The Comms Tower assists with relays and long-distance communication techniques, including an emergency bell and Amplifiers for quick dissemination of emergency signals.
Magtrain Stations
Magtrain stations are often positioned at strategic locations within the Underwards of a city, often as grand, cathedral-like stations with vaulted ceilings. These locations allow citizens to move large distances around the city quickly, and double as supply depots where trade goods are transported. Stations are numbered by their approximate location within the city grid, with the first number representing latitude and the second number representing longitude.
Magtrack
Magtracks are magnetic tracks that provide subterranean routes for a variety of Aethertech vehicles, such as magtrains, maglifts, and magsuits. These tracks are designed from reinforced, highly magnetized, polished metals embedded into polished stone surfaces with intricate geomantic runes carved into them. They can run along the ground, floor, or ceiling, catering to a variety of tasks from supply depots, mining operations, and public transportation. Bioluminescent crystals are used to provide natural lighting along the tracks.
Magtrain
Magtrains are single or multi-carriage Aethertech vehicles that sync up with magtracks, allowing them to rapidly traverse subterranean routes at average speeds of 40 to 60 mph. Passenger carriages have seating or standing options, and supply carriages are designed to transport a variety of cargo, particularly well-suited to the cargo dimensions assigned by the Dwarven Corporations.
