Amara, Goddess of Compassion
Amara is a youthful Elven Goddess with radiant skin, warm eyes, and an aura of compassion so intense that love, kindness, and respect spread wherever she goes. She is selfless, nurturing, and driven by an unwavering need to alleviate suffering. She gives away her wealth, uplifts the overlooked, and instinctively turns toward any wound, grief, or injustice within reach.
Amara lives in Skywood, though she spends most of her time traveling to other cities to spread her services wherever she can, especially in times of crisis. She often visits cities within Ironwood and Aegis that are impacted by the shadowlands or have recently encountered duress from demonic forces.
Domain and Powers
Amara's healing powers are legendary. She can heal the sick and wounded, pull victims back from the brink of death, and cure natural or magical ailments, including demonic curses and blights. Saints have been known to purge a Devil's Mark from a willing subject, but Amara is the only known being capable of purging one from an unwilling victim.
Amara's aura generates extreme Prana saturation, making her one of the greatest sources of restorative and sanctifying power in Endros. Those near her feel a soothing calm that suppresses panic, despair, and hostility. The wounds of nearby creatures will passively heal, essence will recover, and hostile or demonic forces will recoil from her blinding pain.
Church and Sanctuaries
Amara has the largest religious following of any God in Endros, not because she seeks worship, but because her healing, kindness, and presence give people faith and comfort in a world defined by demonic threats. She asks followers to serve her through compassion rather than adoration: caring for the forgotten and strengthening their communities.
The Church of Amara is the primary force behind Sanctuaries, serving as holy centers, hospitals, and crisis-response hubs. They are usually placed in Adventuring districts or other high-risk areas where injuries and demonic threats are common. In times of crisis, they mobilize Prana, volunteers, healers, and supplies as one of Endros's first lines of support.
Saints
Saints are Amara's Anointed, chosen from Priests who demonstrate extraordinary selflessness, compassion, and potential to heal the world. Her Sacrament grants miraculous healing, purification, and anti-demonic force. Most Saints oversee major Sanctuaries, though some serve the Adventurer's Guild in crucial offensive or support roles. Amara often chooses Saints that will make talented Exorcists, as their ability to confront demonic forces makes them especially valuable to Endros.
The Saints who live with Amara in Skywood are called Shepherds. They protect her wellbeing, ensure she rests, and direct her attention toward matters where her compassion can produce the greatest good. Without Shepherds to intervene, Amara tends to exhaust herself on trivial acts of kindness and self-sacrifice. Shepherds also make important decisions for her, such as the appointment of Sacraments, as Amara may otherwise be inclined to empower the nearest peasant who appeals to her.
Grace Ward
Amara is strongly involved with Grace Ward, the district that cares for Endros's orphans. The Grace Ward is jointly supported by the Church, the House of Maidens, and the Skywood government, providing the children with all the care they need. Amara and her Saints visit frequently, exposing the children to powerful waves of divine compassion. Many Saints, Maidens, Adventurers, and accomplished public figures trace their origins to the Ward.
Divine Relationships
Concordia and her House of Maidens work closely with Amara through the Grace Ward, pairing Amara's love for children with the structure and funding needed to raise them.
