Touring Companies
Overview
Endros's major touring companies are profitable enterprises and established traveling communities whose arrivals bring festivals, famous performers, and exceptional Mindscape attractions. The Moonlit Revelry, the Caravan of Wonders, and the Golden Banner travel throughout the nation, while the Opaline Procession serves submerged Merfolk settlements. Each company has its own specialties and broad collection of games, immersive performances, and rare Programs carried within powerful Mindshards. Programs can be transferred but never copied, making these collections distinctive attractions wherever they travel.
Permanent crews, families, apprentices, merchants, guest performers, and passengers form each company's traveling community. Maestros accompany all three land companies, performing alongside their other celebrated members. The companies also carry recorded entertainment, news, and public announcements. The land companies refresh their collections at cities with Comm Towers and offer screenings elsewhere, providing a useful service to smaller settlements.
Routes and Venues
The three land companies follow the same national circuit of forty-four settlements, each on its own phase, so a town sees them roughly four months apart and their dates repeat every year. Stays follow a city's size, importance, and location: two to three weeks in the capitals, one to two weeks in other major cities, and three to seven days in towns, with rarely visited inland towns given a little longer. The companies travel by Magtrain, ship, and river barge where they can; overland hauls take at least a day, longer through the Shadowlands, and no company sails the waters off Bane. Each company carries specialized equipment and employs technicians, while host settlements maintain suitable grounds, fittings, and agreements. Advance crews prepare the venues before the main company arrives.
The Moonlit Revelry
The Moonlit Revelry, commonly known as the Traveling Circus, is operated by Gypsies who have maintained its caravan for centuries. It is renowned for Beastmaster sports, acrobatics, music, plays, magical and psychic performances, and elaborate Mindscape entertainment. Maestros often join as paid performers, and travelers can accompany the caravan between settlements under its protection.
Its famous night market continues after the main performances, filled with food, music, curious wares, smaller shows, and games. The Revelry is also one of Endros's traveling black markets, a role widely understood as an open secret. Its close-knit criminal network operates through familial connections and established acquaintances, dealing in theft, fencing, smuggling, and drugs alongside the company's legitimate entertainment and trade.
Identifying which Gypsies participate is difficult, as they protect one another and remain silent about private dealings. They navigate legal gray areas, keeping most questionable business below the level that major authorities consider worth investigating. Outright illegal transactions are usually handled elsewhere, making evidence difficult to connect to the company. Some individuals have occasionally been caught committing serious offenses, but such cases are rare and have not led to the Revelry being shut down.
The Caravan of Wonders
The Caravan of Wonders brings together craftsmanship, Aethertech, practical magic, and scholarship. Dwarven corporations, magical institutions, independent artisans and practitioners, and academics exhibit, teach, recruit, and conduct business alongside its permanent specialists and visiting Masters. Local covens, Weaver Circles, sorcery schools, and other magical communities prepare for its annual arrival. Its advanced Mindshards, impressive Programs, and broad gaming collection are major public attractions.
A substantial reagent market supplies alchemical ingredients, specialized materials, and casting instruments. Visitors book consultations with Master Weavers, Mindshapers, Artificers, ritualists, and other exceptional practitioners. Magical circles contribute demonstrations and collaborative projects, while apprenticeships, recruitment, commissions, and patronage connect promising individuals with opportunities. Educational Programs, scholarly presentations, traveling researchers, and exchanges with local practitioners support academic work throughout the route.
The Golden Banner
The Golden Banner is a traveling sports and adventuring institution sponsored by the Adventurer's Guild. It carries several major competitive Mindscape games alongside live sports, combat exhibitions, and a broad recreational collection. Its main competitions include tactical team games, athletic challenges, duels, objective-based contests, and cooperative adventurer simulations. Guild representatives and academy scouts assess promising participants, while the Grand Games Federation provides appropriate competition standards and certified results.
Local qualification carries public prestige and can attract sponsorship from nobles, merchants, corporations, and established Adventurers. Sponsors provide equipment, coaching, entry fees, and travel expenses, gaining recognition while supporting competitors who may eventually help defend their region. Participants can earn positions as trainees, reserves, specialist competitors, instructors, or permanent touring members. Successful teams may receive collective sponsorship and continue together, becoming a source of pride for their hometowns as they gain recognition across Endros.
Famous competitors, mentors, and visiting Adventurers shape the Banner's public identity. A smaller contingent of Maestros provides evening concerts, ceremonial performances, and celebrity appearances.
The Opaline Procession
The Opaline Procession tours submerged Merfolk settlements, bringing spectacular celebrations led by performing Sirens. Concerts, aquatic dances, talent shows, and elaborate performances fill illuminated reefs, cavern halls, and aquatic venues. Powerful Mindshards provide games and immersive experiences designed specifically for Merfolk, alongside tournaments and recreational attractions. Its traveling performers, specialists, merchants, and families connect underwater communities through entertainment and exchange.
The Procession tours the Merfolk colonies beside the Tidewalk ports of Endros, along with two undersea regions, making twenty-six stops on the same dates every year. It begins and ends in Meris with a four-week home season that closes with the Meris Aquatic Games. From there it heads out along the south-east coast to Titania, passes Bane into the Skywood waters, and enters Siren's Cradle by way of Marindel, whose colony it shares with Alwich. It then works north up the central strait to the north coast, Anchor, the Northern Gulf, and Farpoint before the long swim home.
The Procession travels at a relaxed pace, swimming four to five hours a day. It moves quickly along the Hydrolanes of the main sea routes and more slowly through open water. Stays run three weeks in the capitals, about two weeks in major cities, and five to seven days in towns. Remote Anchor and Farpoint receive longer stays, since Merfolk from the surrounding waters gather there to meet it. Its stays in Siren's Cradle and the Northern Gulf serve undersea settlements far from any surface city. The Procession does not travel up river; Merfolk from river towns meet it at the nearest stop. The luxury liner Opaline sails alongside it, allowing land-dwellers to follow the tour.
