Titan Order

The Titan Order

The Titan Order is Titania's military, led by Kratos, the God of Conquest. It attracts ambitious soldiers and battle-hardened adventurers whose loyalty borders on the religious, uniting them under a banner of divine military right. Members of the Order are expected to embody martial prowess, unwavering discipline, and absolute loyalty to both Kratos and the Order's sacred traditions.

Oath of Conquest

Every soldier of the Titan Order must swear an Oath of Conquest, a sacred vow binding them to Kratos's will. This oath is taken during initiation and represents an unbreakable commitment to war, duty, and discipline.

  • To serve Kratos is to serve conquest. I shall wage war without hesitation, and shall never falter in battle.
  • I shall uphold the supremacy of the Titan Order, and obey my superiors without question.
  • I shall not retreat from battle unless commanded, nor shall I break formation for personal gain.
  • I shall bring glory to the Order and my name through triumph in combat.
  • My strength shall shape the world, and through conquest, my legacy shall endure.

Breaking this oath is considered treason, punishable by exile, execution, or, in the worst cases, ritual dishonor—a fate where one is stripped of their rank, armor, and name, cast into the wastes beyond the Great Wall to die alone.

Titan Commandments

  • Power is Authority. One's right to rule is dictated only by their strength. The weak are unfit to command.
  • Conquest is Glory. All wars are sacred, and victory is the highest form of honor.
  • Loyalty is Absolute. Betrayal of the Order is betrayal of Titania, and shall be punished with merciless retribution.
  • Unity is Paramount. One must stand with their comrades, for divided forces invite ruin.
  • Obedience is Law. A soldier must obey his superior, for insubordination leads only to collapse.

The Titans

Titans represent the most elite warriors in the military, the highest ranks within the Order. They are granted this prestigious status when Kratos bestows upon them a divine Sacrament, immediately receiving the rank of Captain. Titans that prove their strategic acumen or military might as Captains may be eligible for higher command.

All Titans are entitled to receive the iconic Titan Armor. Upon reaching the rank of Warlord, Titans are elevated to nobility. Within Titania, only Titans are allowed to possess noble status. Those who do are given absolute authority over their domains to maintain order and enforce Kratos's doctrine.

At any given time, there are roughly 100 living Titans. Nearly all of them remain in active service until death or late retirement with the Titan Order. The individuals who aspired to be aggressive and loyal enough to become Titans in the first place tend to have personalities that cause them to remain in service.

Titan Armor

Central to the identity of the Titan Order are the iconic red Titan Armors—relics of unmatched power and prestige, characterized by their crimson capes and the sigil of the Titan Order. Possessed only by Titans, these armors are a symbol of divine favor. Any unauthorized individual who dons it will be executed. Each set is forged by Aedron, the God of Crafting, to be returned to the Titanian armory after its owner's death.

Ranks

The Order maintains a rigorous hierarchy. Lesser ranks are expected to obey their superiors. Superiors are only permitted to give commands that are within the bounds of their own orders.

Soldiers

There are five ranks of soldiers:

  • Ensign: Entry-level rank, yet to prove their worth through discipline and battle readiness.
  • Warrior: Trained soldiers, serving on the front lines. Most of the military force consists of this rank.
  • Veteran: Experienced soldiers who have survived multiple battles. Lead a team (5 soldiers).
  • Vanguard: Expert soldiers that have demonstrated exceptional ability or tactical acumen. Lead a squad (10 soldiers).
  • Centurion: Highly trained, elite soldiers. Lead a platoon (20 soldiers).

Officers

There are three officer ranks, available only to Titans, each with varying degrees of autonomy. At any given time, there are 8 Overlords, 16 Sworn Warlords, 20 Sovereign Warlords, and roughly 50 Captains.

  • Overlord: The five most senior officers, responsible for commanding a regiment (800-1200 soldiers). They plan campaigns, execute large-scale operations, and hold major citadels on the demonic warfront. Each Overlord is chosen for their strategic acumen, and has two Sworn Warlords that serve directly beneath them.
  • Warlord: Senior officers, responsible for overseeing battalions (400-600 soldiers). Sworn Warlords serve an Overlord, acting as their right-hand strategists and field commanders. Sovereign Warlords act independently, planning and executing large-scale operations without direct oversight.
  • Captain: Officers responsible for leading a company (100-200 soldiers) of forces in battle. Their role is to serve their Warlord, relay orders, lead engagements, and ensure their duties are executed effectively.

Ceremonies and Traditions

The Order's martial spirit is celebrated through grand public events that reinforce its values and traditions. One such event is the Coronation of Steel, a ceremony held within the Titania Coliseum where new Titans are publicly anointed, marking the highest elevation possible within the Order.

The Titan Games are another celebrated tradition. Held annually, these contests draw warriors from across Endros, with multiple rounds of combat culminating in the declaration of a single victor. The champion is granted a divine Sacrament from Kratos, immediately elevating them to Titan status. Other promising candidates are observed for future opportunities.

Military Infrastructure

Kratos is unwavering in his insistence on the creation and maintenance of formidable military strongholds to the east of the Great Wall, pushing deeper into the demonic lands. Imposing citadels stand as centers of power and control, their walls adorned with banners and statues celebrating the God of Conquest. These fortresses serve multiple purposes: they function as training grounds, supply stations, planning centers, armories, communal hubs, and administrative bases from which Titans enforce Kratos's will. Among these, the War Citadel in Titania stands as the largest and most fortified palace in Endros, serving as the residence and command center for Kratos himself.

Enlistment Process

The Titan Order has three paths to enlistment: schooling, direct recruitment, or wargame achievements.

Schooling

The vast majority of soldiers are initiated through the Titanian Academy. Initiates must swear the sacred Guild Oaths, conduct their physical and mental initiation exams, and begin their official training. It is possible for talented recruits to jump immediately to the rank of Veteran during the initiation exams, though higher ranks typically require long-term evidence of loyalty and hands-on experience.

Admission into the Titanian Academy can be difficult, and is not guaranteed. It is highly competitive, fueled by a militaristic society and lineages that pride themselves on combat prowess. Nearly half of recruits that enter the academy belong to families that have trained them since childhood to be elite soldiers. Nearly all of the remaining recruits have at least some degree of formal combat training, often at early stage training camps and schools.

Direct Recruitment

Some experienced soldiers are recruited directly into the military through recruiters, often from cities other than Titania. These soldiers are often elevated to the rank of Veteran or higher, depending on their previous expertise and achievements. For particularly elite recruits, such as high-ranking adventurers, Titans may be directly involved in the recruitment process.

Wargame Achievements

The Titan Order has established seven Wargame Arenas where players can join Mindscapes designed with elaborate war games. These games simulate a wide variety of war-like environments and scenarios. Sprites manage and monitor the games, keeping records of player scores and achievements.

Players that perform exceptionally well in these games may be eligible for a unique path to enlistment. Attaining certain scores and achievements can even guarantee certain military ranks. Though extremely difficult to achieve, completing certain wargame challenges can also entitle someone to make a Crucible challenge against Kratos, the stakes of which are either complete enslavement and submission to his will, or elevation to the status of Titan through the bestowment of a divine Sacrament.
