Alchemist's Guild
The Alchemist's Guild is technically a single entity run by Aedron, the God of Crafting, but acts more like loosely coupled business enterprises with shared pride and competing agendas. For all intents and purposes, operations are delegated based on projects run by the Dwarven Corporations in Onyx, with each corporation competing for more influence and resources. These corporate projects take heavy influence from their high-value contracts with major factions; especially the Adventurer's Guild, the Titan Order, the Navy, and the Archivist's Guild.
Guild Ranks
- Unranked: Provisional alchemists or non-alchemist support roles; e.g. secretaries, desk workers, etc.
- Bronze: Alchemists in training, have demonstrated proficiency.
- Silver: Apprentice alchemists, often serving as support on Aethertech or enchantment projects.
- Gold: Professional alchemists capable of producing basic Aethertech wares.
- Platinum: Master alchemists capable of producing advanced enchantments and Aethertech wares.
- Mithril: Top-tier artificers, usually working directly with Aedron on relics and wonders.
Distribution of Ranks:
- Bronze (10%): Alchemists typically pass through the training phase after a year or two.
- Silver (70%): Usually on teams of 3-6 managed by a Gold-rank alchemist.
- Gold (15%): Typically manage a small team beneath a Platinum-rank alchemist.
- Platinum (5%): Master alchemists that oversee large, important projects.
- Mithril (<1%): Ranges between 40-50 Mithril-ranked alchemists, who serve as key figures within the Guild.
It takes natural talent and considerable effort to rise to Gold rank or higher. Ranking up is usually determined organically by proving one's abilities to higher-rank alchemists and being recruited to more important teams. Only Aedron is capable of raising someone to the rank of Mithril, which usually involves being brought into his workforce directly. The higher an alchemist is ranked, the more resources the Guild is willing to provide them, which can translate to more recruiting power for teams.
Gold-ranked alchemists tend to manage teams composed of multiple lesser-ranked alchemists, either as sub-projects of a larger project or on their own independent projects. Platinum and Mithril-ranked alchemists run larger projects, often involving multiple teams and hierarchies. They have an easier time recruiting due to their influence, skill, prestige, and access to resources within the Guild.
Guild Influence & Special Privileges
The Alchemist's Guild's services are considered extremely valuable for the long-term survival of Endros. Ranked alchemists are afforded status and privilege similar to equivalently ranked Adventurers, giving them notable rights and legal protections.
Alchemist Classes
Alchemists almost always associate with a designated class that reflects their specialization:
- Artificer: Produce physical supplies, most often through metalworking.
- Concocter: Create magical foods and consumables.
- Cultivator: Work with druidic and botanical magic to cultivate and harvest magical plants and components.
- Enchanter: Work with leylines and fixed locations to produce lasting enchantments.
- Infusionist: Assist with the infusing process of Aether into the necessary Aethertech.
- Though often considered an "easier" class, a talented infusionist can be critical for certain Aethertech.
- Inventor: A title bestowed by Aedron to the brilliant few that successfully produce new magical inventions.
- Mindshaper: Works with Mindscape technology, including the creation of Constructs and Sprites.
- Tinkerer: A cross-disciplinary specialization; works with many alchemical materials.
- Weaver: Weave magical energies into clothing and textiles.
