Aethertech
Aethertech refers to magical items powered by Aether. Aethertech devices can be immensely powerful within their Aether environments, but will cease to function outside of them. For Aethertech that is designed to work with one's personal energy, including Chi and Mind Aethertech, physical contact or close proximity to one's mental energy is required for it to function.
Aethertech is almost exclusively created by the Dwarven Corporations that mine the critical alchemy minerals and metals from deep within their territories. Much of Dwarven culture is associated with Aethertech and its technologies. Legendary smiths like Aedron, the God of Crafting, work tirelessly with teams of elite Dwarven artisans to produce the world's greatest Aethertech.
Aethertech Classifications
All Aethertech items are assigned a classification that indicates the equivalent years of effort to craft under good conditions, the level of expertise required, the Aether types, and the saturation it works with (in numeric tiers). For example, "15E Fire:2" indicates 15-year equivalent work with a group of Experts using Fire Aether, functioning at tier 2 (moderate saturation). "A" indicates a standard "Artificer," "E" for "Expert," and "M" for "Master." Work is usually done in teams, so a "15E" classification could indicate a team of five Experts working for 3 years (for a total of 15-equivalent).
A rough gold cost of Aethertech can usually be approximated by the time investment and skill requirement with this formula: the number of years times 2X, or 5X for expert skill, or 10X for master skill. These prices are adjusted on a variety of factors, such as how long the technology has been available, if there is a particularly high demand, or if the Adventurer's Guild has exclusive contracts to purchase them.

Mixed Aethertech
Aetherstakes
Stakes that are fixed into position and attuned to three or more of a similar type, forming Aetheric boundaries that influence the movement of Aether. The boundaries can be designed to block Aether of its designated type, or to allow it to flow in a chosen direction. The boundary requires days or weeks to synchronize with leylines and to build its energy, but offers a powerful method to strengthen and raise the saturation of Aether for spellcasting, rituals, enchantments, and artificing.
Other common modifications include:
- Fire Aetherstakes: Sustain a permanent, highly efficient fire within an area, maintain heat, release heat, etc.
- Water Aetherstakes: Maintain a current for fast swimming, contain mist and fog in an area, keep water in perpetual motion, etc.
- Air Aetherstakes: Maintain a current for fast movement, reduce windspeed, repel projectiles, keep an area clean, etc.
- Earth Aetherstakes: Sustain a powerful magnetic field, speed up or improve earthenware crafting processes, etc.
- Nature Aetherstakes: Encourage fertile soil and healthy crops, strengthen growth in living architecture, etc.
- Prana Aetherstakes: Prepare areas where demons will suffer heavy disadvantage, encourage positive mood, etc.
